Smart and Skilled is a NSW Government initiative that provides subsidised training courses to eligible students to help people get training in in-demand skills and industries to get the skills they need to find a job and advance their careers. Through Smart and Skilled vocational education providers deliver training that meets geographic, occupational and industry needs of communities across NSW.
NSW Fee-free & Fee-Free Traineeship*
NSW Fee-free & Fee-Free Traineeship* is a joint initiative of the Australian Commonwealth and New South Wales Governments, your tuition fee will be covered by the Australian and NSW governments for eligible people wanting to train, retrain or upskill.
Students are limited to enrolling in only one Fee-free* course per semester.
Your enrolment is confirmed when you receive an email from us confirming your enrolment.

As a Smart and Skilled contracted training provider, Lead College-approved full qualification courses are fee-free ($0) * for eligible students.
NSW Fee-free Training* Students must be enrolling & commence between 1 July 2024 and 31 December 2024.
Places are limited and not guaranteed. Enrolling or applying early is recommended. The number of funded Fee-free* places is determined by the terms of the skills agreement between the Australian Commonwealth and New South Wales Governments.

Who is eligible?
Smart and Skilled provides eligible students with:
- an entitlement to government-subsidised training up to and including Certificate III
- government funding for higher-level courses (Certificate IV and above) in targeted priority areas.
Under Skills NSW, you may be able to study a fee-free course if you are:
- 15 years old or over
- no longer at school
- living or working in NSW
- an Australian citizen, permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen.
